The Susie Long Memorial Walk will be held on Sunday, October 7 at 12 noon in Kilkenny’s Castle Park. Open to all, it remembers loved ones who died from cancer and it will raise money for a hospice for the people of Carlow-Kilkenny. To sign up, pick up a registration form at one of our outlets
Who will you be walking for? To celebrate the life of her mum, Áine McLiam, will be taking part on the fifth anniversary of Susie Long’s death.
In memory of my cousin - Kilkenny Rose Aoibhín Murphy will be walking in memory of her cousin, Marie Reeves, who died from cervical cancer.
In memory of my aunt’s husband - Mayor of Kilkenny Sean Ó hArgáin will be walking in memory of his aunt’s husband, Tim Maher, who died from cancer.

As the fifth anniversary of Susie Long’s death approaches, it is more important than ever to continue the campaign for a hospice for the people of Carlow-Kilkenny. A massive €617,000 has been fundraised to date -- but we need your help to see the project across the finish line. Join us for the Susie Long Memorial Walk led by Mayor Seán O’hArgáin, RTE’s Joe Duffy and special guests. Every registered participant that raises sponsorship gets a free standard or personalised t-shirt, depending on their preference. The Susie Long Hospice Fund (SLHF) was set up in October 2007 to provide the highest possible quality of end-of-life care for patients and their families through the establishment of a 12-bed hospice in Kilkenny, for the people of Kilkenny and Carlow. The Fund is meeting this challe, increasing awareness of the need and benefits of local hospice care and by lobbying Government for support.
