A KILKENNY man is one member of a team of four students who have designed a new neoprene swimsuit that actively improves swimming technique.
‘Nero-Hero’ is a team consisting of Jack Healy (Kilkenny), Robert McCarthy, (Wexford) David Manton, (Dublin) Daniel Minogue (Dublin) and ‘Chad’ - a dummy.
The four product design students from Dublin Institute of Technology and their dummy partner have developed a neoprene garment with a unique design that raises the body of the user into the correct position while swimming, to improve technique. They aim to improve the customer’s experience and confidence in the water through top quality, fashionable products.
Nero-Hero pitched their investment proposal to a panel of judges at the Bolton Trust student enterprise competition, and were questioned extensively on their business plans.
The Bolton Trust student enterprise competition was established in 1986, and is the largest third level competition of its kind in the country. Teams applied with business plans submitted from across many different programmes including retail and service management, business and management, product design and international business and languages.
The Bolton Trust by Dublin Institute of Technology staff currently has over 200 members including DIT staff and individuals from Ireland’s entrepreneurial community. The expertise of the Trust can be mobilised to help budding entrepreneurs create new business enterprise.
