Kilkenny Castle closed as gas pipe bursts and 33 trees down

A repair crew from Bord Gais are at the scene of a gas pipe break in the grounds of Kilkenny Castle. The grounds and castle are closed until further notice as a precaution.
Around 33 mature trees were brought down by yesterday’s gusts and one iconic oak tree in the Rose Garden of the Castle is down as well.
Roads are still impassable and the area around Nowlan park GAA groudns is stil la no-go area after poart of the roof on the old stand blew away.
